Balasore Institute of Technical Studies under the aegis of Sikhya O Pragati Charitable Trust was established in the year 2007 to build professionals in the field of technical, management education. Mr. Nirmal Chandra Dhal, the promoter of the institute left a lucrative banking job to start the institute for the noble cause of nation building with quality manpower. The institute had a humble beginning with a BBA course in the year 2007 and later Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA),  it has its own campus in the outskirt of Balasore town in a serene locality. During last decade due to liberal Policy, huge number of private educational institute established in Odisha as well as India, Both at Rural and urban area. Many of them failed to provide the quality professional course at an affordable course fees suitable to the budget of student particularly from lower and middle income group . The BBA ,MBA BCA Courses of BITS  got the approval from the AICTE, New Delhi since 2024-25 with intake capacity 120 for BBA & 60 for BCA . The management has applied to AICTE for opening of MBA programme from the session 2025-26 with intake 90.
